I’ve been super into Greek yogurt dips lately. Between the protein punch it delivers and that unmistakable tang, it’s the ideal base for sweet and savory dips alike. This Apple Hummus has been my go-to sweet autumn treat for a while, and definitely my favorite way to enjoy a crisp Granny Smith. But I wanted to see if I could create something with Greek yogurt that would scratch that itch as well, but add something a little creamy and a bit more indulgent to the mix. That’s how this caramel dip came to be!
Picture this… a luscious cream cheese base perfectly balanced with the tangy notes of Greek yogurt, lightly sweetened with powdered sugar, and a hint of vanilla. Light, fluffy, and impossibly rich all at once, this dip is topped with gooey caramel and sprinkled with crunchy toffee bits. It’s so good, you’ll want to put it on everything. Plus, it’s super simple to whip up, making it ideal for last-minute gatherings or a delightful personal treat. So grab some apple slices and get dipping!
This Caramel Apple Dip Is a Fall Snack Favorite
On the lookout for the perfect potluck bring-along? Here’s why this dip has GOT to make it to your next fall gathering:
- Sweet ‘n tangy perfection. Rich cream cheese, tangy Greek yogurt, sweet caramel sauce, and buttery toffee bits come together in a glorious combination of flavors. It’s the ideal match for crisp, tart apples, if you ask me.
- Fabulous texture. This dip strikes the perfect balance between rich and creamy and light and fluffy. Substantial without being so heavy that it breaks your graham cracker, it’s ideal for dipping! Then there’s that crunch of the toffee bits on top. Yum!
- Exceptionally versatile. This recipe really allows you to get creative with your serving options! Whether you’re using caramel apple dip as…well…a dip for apples or even graham crackers and nilla wafers, or spreading it over toast for a sweet morning treat, there’s so much you can do!

Recipe Ingredients
Gather your ingredients and get to mixin’! Here’s a shopping list for you (please see the recipe card below for precise measurements):
- Cream cheese – Start with room temperature cream cheese. If it’s too cold, you’ll end up with a lumpy dip.
- Plain Greek yogurt – The tang of the Greek yogurt balances the sweetness of this dip perfectly! Stick with Greek yogurt (ideally full-fat). Other yogurts tend to be a bit too runny.
- Powdered sugar – The powdered sugar not only contributes sweetness, but also adds structure to the dip. Don’t try to use a different kind of sugar. They’re often too gritty, and you won’t get the same light, fluffy results.
- Vanilla extract – I love the sweet, warming depth the vanilla brings.
- Heavy cream – The cream should be nice and cold. Otherwise, it won’t whip up and hold volume well.
- Caramel sauce – Salted caramel sauce is my favorite! Whether it’s a store-bought version or this Homemade Caramel Sauce, you can’t go wrong. Grab (or make) one that’s thin enough to spread evenly over the dip. Not a big caramel person? Try my Dulce de Leche instead, though it tends to be a bit thicker, so you’lle need to drizzle and spread it more carefully!
- Toffee bits – Like chopped Heath Bar! Such a fun, crunchy addition to an otherwise silky smooth dip.
- Sliced apples – For dipping. I like using a combo of red and green apples for visual appeal. Granny Smiths and Honeycrisps are my fave here.

How to Make Caramel Apple Dip
Here’s a quick look at how to make caramel apple dip. Be sure to scroll to the recipe card below for more detailed instructions.
- Beat. Beat the cream cheese, Greek yogurt, powdered sugar, and vanilla on medium speed until smooth.

- Add volume. Keep mixing and slowly pour in the heavy cream. Beat on high speed until light and fluffy.

- Assemble. Spread the dip into the bottom of a baking dish and pour the caramel over the top. Sprinkle the toffee bits over it all and serve with apples for dipping.

Tips and Topping Ideas
Striving for dip perfection? Follow these tips and tricks, and you won’t be sorry. I popped some fun topping ideas in there, too, just in case.
- Use a thin caramel. When choosing your caramel sauce (or making it from scratch), pay attention to consistency. It should be thin enough to pour over the dip without having to heat it up (see my next point).
- Don’t heat the caramel. While it may be tempting to heat your caramel up for easier pouring/spreading, don’t do it. The heat will cause the creamy portion of the dip to separate.
- Be choosy with your serving dish. You want a good ratio of dip to caramel to toffee pieces in each bite, so aim for a serving dish/bowl that has a relatively large surface area. I used a 2-quart baking dish, and it worked perfectly.
- Spread evenly. When spreading the creamy base into the serving dish, and then again when adding the caramel and the toffee, spread/drizzle/sprinkle evenly so that each bite of this delicious dip has some of everything in it.
- Nutty addition. If you feel like your toffee bits need some company, throw some crushed up peanuts (or any nut you prefer) on top.
- Cookie crunch. Chopped Gluten Free Oreos, Reese’s, pretzels, or graham crackers (try these Gluten-Free Graham Crackers) would be another great topping addition.
- Chocolate lovers only. Another option would be to swap some of the toffee for mini chocolate chips and/or your favorite chopped chocolate bar!
- Add more apples. If you just can’t get enough apple flavor, top the cream cheese layer with Apple Pie Filling, then add the caramel and toffee for an epic apple cheesecake dip!

Ways to Serve Caramel Dip
So, what exactly can you dunk into this dreamy caramel dip? The possibilities are endless!
- Classic dippables. Think crisp apple and/or pear slices, pretzels, or graham crackers! My Gluten-Free Graham Crackers and these Gluten Free Pumpkin Graham Crackers are pretty awesome!
- Dunk cookies too. But don’t stop there! Gluten Free Shortbread Cookies and Gluten Free Vanilla Wafers are also fantastic choices.
- Use it as a spread. Beyond dipping, this caramel creation is incredibly versatile. Spread it generously over toast for breakfast (try it with Gluten Free Brioche or Gluten Free Pumpkin Bread for a sweeter treat).
- Try it as a topping. It’s also a divine topping for vanilla ice cream or this No-Churn Dulce de Leche Ice Cream! Let me know what you come up with!
How to Store Extras
Got leftovers? Lucky you! Cover the dip with a double layer of plastic wrap and pop it in the fridge. It’ll keep for up to 7 days.
Wondering if you can freeze caramel apple dip? My answer is no, sadly. The creamy dip portion will turn runny upon thawing, and the toffee bits will lose their crunch.
