You Should Be Making Air Fryer Roasted Carrots

- It’s just as delicious. These air fryer carrots are super flavorful, perfectly crisp on the outside, and tender on the inside.
- So versatile. While we often just keep them basic with salt and pepper, you can give them a sprinkle of parmesan and parsley or other fresh herbs after cooking, or season with different dried herbs and spices before air frying to complement any meal.

Recipe Ingredients
Here’s the quick list of what you’ll need to make these carrots in the air fryer. Keep reading for notes and tips. Then scroll to the recipe card for the full amounts and step-by-step instructions.
- Carrots: You’ll need about a pound of carrots for this recipe.
- Oil: I used to use olive oil for these, but now I prefer to use avocado oil or another oil with a high smoke point so that is minimizes the residue left on the air fryer basket.
- Salt & Pepper
- Optional: Grated parmesan and freshly minced parsley for serving.

How to Make Carrots in the Air Fryer
- Prepare the Carrots: Wash and dry the carrots. Next, peel and then cut the carrots into “fries” or spears about 3 inches long and a quarter-inch thick.
- Season: Combine the carrots with oil, salt, and pepper and toss to coat.

- Cook: Place the carrots in the basket of your preheated air fryer. Cook for about 12-15 minutes, flipping the carrots every 5 minutes or so.

- Serve: Transfer the cooked carrots to a serving dish. If you’d like, you can give them a sprinkle of parmesan cheese and parsley. Serve right away.

Tips & Variation Ideas
- Know Your Fryer: Cooking times and temperatures may vary depending on your individual air fryer, and also the size of the carrots you’re using. So know your appliance and adjust as needed! You can also begin checking your carrots a few minutes before the end of the cooking time, to make sure everything is on track.
- Can I Use Baby Carrots?: Personally, I prefer the flavor of large carrots over baby carrots. However, you can use baby carrots if you’d like. Just be sure to pat them dry if they come out of the bag wet, to prevent them from steaming instead of roasting!
- Use Different Kinds of Carrots: You can use this recipe to roast rainbow carrots for a fun, colorful side dish!
- Try Different Seasonings: These air fryer carrots are such a (delicious) blank slate, you can really get creative with seasoning them however you wish! Try tossing them in chili powder or blackened seasoning for a bit of heat, tumeric for some earthiness, Italian seasoning or ranch dressing. You can even crush up pecans or walnuts and sprinkle them over top for some extra crunch!
How to Store Leftovers
These air fryer roasted carrots keep well when stored airtight in the fridge. Keep them sealed in a container and reheat them either in the air fryer or in the microwave for a couple of minutes.

Make it a Meal
I can’t think of any meal that wouldn’t pair with these easy and versatile air fryer carrots! They make an excellent side dish for casual weeknight dinners, and even holiday meals.
