Some people like to blanch their peppers before stuffing and baking them. You can do this if you want softer peppers, but I don't find it necessary, In fact, it can make them so soft that they don't hold the filling well.
Wash and dry the peppers. Slice off the tops, cut them in half, and remove the ribs and seeds. Place in a baking dish.
In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with the onion, salt, and pepper. Add the garlic and cook for a minute or two.
Add tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and cooked rice.
Stir it all together and simmer for 5 minutes, or until slightly thickened.
Divide the filling between the pepper halves.
Sprinkle cheese over the peppers and pour on the remainig sauce.
Cover with foil and bake at 350°F, for 30-40 minutes. Uncover and bake for another 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
A meal on their own or with your favorite sides, either way, this is a classic, delicious dinner you will love.
