Funnel cake fries taste just like a classic funnel cake you can get at the fair or on the boardwalk at the beach. But it's transformed into individual pieces you can pick up and eat. The batter itself isn't too sweet, so it's all in how much powdered sugar you sprinkle on top and what you dip your funnel cake fries in.
You only need 9 basic pantry ingredients. 1:1 gluten free flour makes it easy, but still tastes just like you remember.
Whisk the gluten free flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a mixing bowl.
In another bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, and vanilla.
Add the wet ingredients to the dry and fold together until a runny batter forms.
Heat vegetable oil in a skillet. Pipe the batter into lines in the oil and fry for 2-3 minutes, until golden.
Remove the fries to a rack to drain the oil and dust immediately with powdered sugar.
Enjoy the sugary funnel cake fries, or serve with chocolate sauce, caramel, or fruit jam or sauce for dipping.
