My three year old is already such a little man. And what do I mean by this, you ask? You know the stereotype about how men act when they don’t feel well? My husband actually does not fit the stereotype at all, but my three year old? He has it nailed.

Now, to be fair, the kid got his flu shot this morning right in his meaty thigh, so I’m sure it’s causing some soreness in his leg. And the flu shot can cause some lethargy and a low grade fever. And given that he spends his days in the pertri dish that is a classroom with about fifteen other equally germy three year olds, the odds of him coming down with something now that we’ve gotten about a month into the school year are pretty high.

I picked him up right after nap time and he immediately told me his ears and stomach hurt. He never told his teachers, and since I figured it was just the after-effects of the shot, I loaded the boys in the car and went to get them haircuts. It was all downhill from there. Here is a sampling of what I heard the rest of the evening…

“Mommy, my tummy feels like it needs to watch TV.” (How do you even respond to this?)

“Mommy, don’t walk so fast and drag me.” (If I walked any slower I would have been going backwards.)

“I can’t eat hard or crunchy things because I’m not feeling good. I can only eat soft things.” (He was eating a freeze dried banana. They practically dissolve.)

“Leave me alone, brudder, I’m not feeling well.” (After running around the house with a Star Wars ship while shouting gleefully.)

“My ears hurt and my stomach hurts and my leg hurts.” (For the ten millionth time in the past two hours.)

“There’s another boo boo on my leg. Not my shot. It’s all red.” (It’s the remains of a scratch that is mostly healed by now.)

“I can’t eat my eggs because my belly is full.” (Two minutes later he asked for his snack.)

“Mommy, I need to walk slowly. I have to take slow steps. My legs are tired.” (He had just spent the last half hour on the couch and was now walking slower than my 89 year old grandfather.)

I do feel bad for the kid, and he will probably get to stay home from school and watch eleventy billion episodes of Paw Patrol. But I am already anticipating feeling bad for his future wife.

One thing he shockingly does not complain about is eating salads, especially with sherry wine vinaigrette dressing!

And this Creamy Greek Yogurt Sherry Wine Vinaigrette Salad Dressing is a super simple way to add a tangy flavor to your salad with a drizzle of this smooth dressing. It takes only seconds to whisk or shake together the four ingredients and even though it has a totally creamy texture, the crisp [amazon_textlink asin=’B00GVFF0AS’ text=’sherry wine vinegar’ template=’ProductLink’ store=’cupkalchi-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’8b61e8cf-4635-11e7-b281-27684199fcae’] makes it light at the same time.
